policy

Our policies are designed to keep lessons consistent, communication clear, and the Jupiter experience safe and enjoyable for every student, family, and instructor. By establishing clear expectations for scheduling, payments, safety, and participation, we can spend less time on logistics and more tim

Tuition is billed at a flat monthly rate and reserves the student's recurring weekly lesson time.

Monthly tuition is based on Jupiter Music's annual lesson calendar rather than the exact number of lessons occurring within an individual month. Some months may include five lessons, while scheduled holiday breaks may result in fewer lessons during other months. These differences are accounted for in the annual calendar, allowing tuition to remain consistent throughout the year.

Students beginning lessons after the start of a month will have their first month's tuition prorated based on their start date.

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Payments more than 10 days past due will incur a $15 late fee. Accounts more than 30 days past due may have lessons paused until the outstanding balance is paid.

Invoices are sent electronically through Square's secure billing system. Families wishing to pay tuition in cash must prepay a minimum of three months at a time.

Students are expected to attend their regularly scheduled weekly lesson.

To be eligible for a makeup credit, cancellations must be made at least 6 hours before the scheduled lesson time.

Cancellations made with less than 6 hours' notice and missed lessons without notice are considered late cancellations and are not eligible for a makeup credit, refund, or tuition adjustment.

Students may hold a maximum of two (2) unused makeup credits at any time. If a student already has two unused makeup credits, additional missed lessons will not generate additional credits until an existing credit has been used.

Makeup credits:

  • Are subject to instructor and studio availability;
  • May be scheduled at a different day or time than the student's regular lesson;
  • Have no cash value;
  • Cannot be transferred to another student or family;
  • Cannot be applied toward monthly tuition; and
  • Are issued only for eligible student absences, not instructor cancellations.

Unused makeup credits are forfeited when a student discontinues enrollment.

Missed lessons do not reduce or prorate monthly tuition.

Makeup lessons and temporary scheduling changes are subject to instructor and studio availability. Jupiter Music will make reasonable efforts to accommodate scheduling requests but cannot guarantee a particular alternate day, time, or instructor.

Requests to permanently change a student's regular lesson day or time must be coordinated directly with Jupiter Music and are subject to availability.

Students arriving late may use the remainder of their scheduled lesson time. Lessons will still end at their regularly scheduled time so the following student's lesson is not affected.

Please notify your instructor or Jupiter Music if you expect to arrive late.

If an instructor is unable to teach a scheduled lesson, Jupiter Music will either:

  • Provide a qualified substitute instructor; or
  • Reschedule the affected lesson.

Instructor absences do not count against a student's makeup credits.

Jupiter Music will make reasonable efforts to reschedule instructor-cancelled lessons at a mutually workable time.

Jupiter Music generally follows Lewisville ISD (LISD) closures for severe weather.

If Jupiter Music cancels lessons because of inclement weather or another unexpected studio closure, families will be notified. Jupiter Music may reschedule the affected lesson or provide an appropriate alternative, such as a virtual lesson when practical.

Jupiter Music observes scheduled breaks throughout the year, including:

  • Thanksgiving Break
  • Christmas/Winter Break
  • Spring Break

Scheduled breaks are built into Jupiter Music's annual lesson calendar and are already reflected in the monthly tuition structure. Tuition is therefore not prorated or refunded for scheduled studio holidays or breaks.

Families will be notified of the studio calendar and any additional scheduled closures.

Consistent practice between lessons is an important part of musical development.

Practice expectations may vary depending on the student's age, experience, instrument, and goals. Instructors will work with each student to establish appropriate expectations and develop productive practice habits.

Jupiter Music primarily communicates with families through text and email.

Billing questions, enrollment changes, permanent schedule changes, discontinuation requests, and other administrative matters should be directed to Jupiter Music.

Students and parents are encouraged to communicate directly with their instructor regarding lesson material, practice expectations, musical goals, student progress, and day-of scheduling matters.

Families are responsible for maintaining current contact information with Jupiter Music and reviewing communications regarding scheduling, billing, closures, recitals, and other studio matters.

Jupiter Music typically hosts two student recitals each year—one during the spring and one during the fall.

Participation is strongly encouraged as part of a well-rounded music education. Performing gives students an opportunity to set goals, develop confidence, and share their progress with friends and family.

A $15 recital participation fee per family is collected from participating families to help cover venue, staffing, programs, and other recital expenses.

Additional optional performance opportunities may be offered throughout the year.

Jupiter Music may photograph or record lessons, recitals, performances, classes, and other studio events for educational, promotional, social media, website, advertising, and other marketing purposes.

By enrolling, parents or guardians grant Jupiter Music permission to use photographs or recordings containing themselves or their child for these purposes without additional compensation.

Families who do not wish for themselves or their child to appear in Jupiter Music promotional materials may opt out at any time by notifying Jupiter Music in writing.

Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring minor students are safely dropped off and picked up for their lessons.

Students may remain in the Jupiter Music lobby immediately before or after their scheduled lesson while waiting for a parent or guardian.

Minor students may not leave the premises unattended unless Jupiter Music has received permission from their parent or legal guardian.

Parents and guardians are responsible for timely pickup following their child's lesson.

Enrollment continues month-to-month until Jupiter Music receives written notice of discontinuation.

A minimum of 14 days' written notice before the student's next billing date is required to discontinue lessons.

If notice is provided fewer than 14 days before the next billing date, the upcoming month's tuition will remain due and the student's enrollment will continue through that paid period.

Verbal notice to an instructor does not constitute official notice of discontinuation. Discontinuation requests must be submitted directly to Jupiter Music.

Unused makeup credits have no cash value and are forfeited when enrollment ends. They cannot be refunded or applied toward a student's final tuition payment.

Participation in music lessons, recitals, performances, events, and other activities at or organized by Jupiter Music may involve ordinary risks associated with educational, musical, and event activities, including the use of musical instruments, audio equipment, furniture, stages, cables, stands, and other equipment.

By enrolling a student or participating in a Jupiter Music program or activity, the student and/or the student's parent or legal guardian acknowledges and voluntarily assumes the ordinary risks associated with participation.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the student and/or parent or legal guardian agrees to release and hold harmless Jupiter Studios LLC, doing business as Jupiter Music, and its owners, employees, instructors, independent contractors, agents, and representatives from claims arising from ordinary risks associated with participation in Jupiter Music activities, except to the extent a claim results from conduct or circumstances for which liability cannot legally be waived.

Parents and guardians are responsible for informing Jupiter Music of any restrictions, accommodations, or safety considerations necessary for their child's participation.

In the event of an emergency involving a minor student when a parent or guardian cannot reasonably be reached, the parent or guardian authorizes Jupiter Music personnel to contact emergency services and take reasonable steps necessary to protect the student's immediate health and safety. Any resulting medical or emergency-service expenses remain the responsibility of the student's parent or guardian.

Students and families are responsible for their own instruments, accessories, electronics, and other personal belongings brought onto Jupiter Music premises or to Jupiter Music events.

Jupiter Music is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property except where otherwise required by law.

Students are expected to treat instructors, staff, other students, studio property, and equipment with respect.

Behavior that is repeatedly disruptive, unsafe, threatening, destructive, or substantially interferes with instruction or the experience of other students may result in parent involvement, suspension from activities, or discontinuation of enrollment.

Parents or guardians may be responsible for damage to Jupiter Music property caused by intentional or reckless conduct by their child, to the extent permitted by law.

Jupiter Music reserves the right to make reasonable instructor, classroom, or scheduling changes when necessary.

If a student's regular instructor is no longer available, Jupiter Music will make reasonable efforts to place the student with another qualified instructor appropriate for the student's level and goals.

A change in instructor does not automatically cancel a student's enrollment.

Jupiter Music may periodically update these policies as the lesson program grows or operational needs change.

Families will be notified of material changes to tuition, scheduling, cancellation, or enrollment policies. Continued enrollment following the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policies to the extent permitted by law.

policy agreement

By enrolling in lessons or continuing enrollment with Jupiter Music, the student and/or student's parent or legal guardian acknowledges that they have received, reviewed, and agree to abide by the Jupiter Music Lesson Policies, including the policies regarding tuition, cancellations, makeup credits, discontinuation, photography and video, student safety, and assumption of risk and liability.
